    Variable GSPLAT_CHOLESKY_EPSILONConst

    GSPLAT_CHOLESKY_EPSILON: 1e-10

Absolute degeneracy floor used by the marginal-Cholesky factorization when the covariance block being factorized is entirely zero (a SCALELESS Σ_S, which has no diagonal to anchor the relative floor to). Such a pivot is floored at sqrt(CHOLESKY_EPSILON) = 1e-5, so a hidden dimension with an all-zero covariance block still renders out to truncation_radius × 1e-5.

Lives here rather than in a kernel because the loaders' chunk-fetch epsilon (data/loaders/spatial-query/tolerance-computer.ts) must cover the band the kernel that actually runs renders, and importing a kernel module into the loaders layer would drag its top-level workspace allocations along with it. The TypeScript reference kernel (src/wasm/typescript/gsplats-processing.ts, the >16D / WASM-missing backend) imports THIS constant, so it cannot desync.

MIRROR: CHOLESKY_EPSILON in src/wasm/rust/src/common.rs (the production backend) must hold the same value — it is a separate language and keeps its own copy. Pinned by src/tests/unit/data/loaders/spatial-query/tolerance-computer.test.ts, which parses that declaration and compares it against this value.
