    Interface EncodingMetadata

    Encoding metadata (nested under "encoding" key per Python spec)

    interface EncodingMetadata {
        name?: string;
        n_elements?: number;
        lut?: number[] | number[][];
        lut_mode?: string;
        original_shape?: number[];
        original_dtype?: string;
        bounds?: [number, number];

        max?: number;
        target?: string;
        hash?: string;
        bits?: number;
        max_log?: number;
        min_log?: number;
    }
    Index
    name?: string

    Encoding name/type

    n_elements?: number

    Number of elements (for broadcasting)

    lut?: number[] | number[][]

    Lookup table values (can be flat array or array of arrays)

    lut_mode?: string

    LUT storage mode: "row" (one index per row) or "scalar" (one index per element)

    original_shape?: number[]

    Original shape before encoding [n, k]

    original_dtype?: string

    Original dtype before encoding (e.g., "uint8", "float32") CRITICAL: The decoder must restore this dtype for correct rendering.

    • uint8 colors: THREE.js normalizes (0-255 → 0-1) with normalized=true
    • float32 colors: Expected to be 0-1, no normalization
    bounds?: [number, number]

    Quantization bounds [min, max]

    min?: number

    Quantization min (current format)

    max?: number

    Quantization max (current format)

    target?: string

    Array reference target path

    hash?: string

    Array reference hash

    bits?: number

    Quantization bits

    max_log?: number

    Log-space encoding max (for log_scalar_uint8/uint16)

    min_log?: number

    Geometric-log scalar lower anchor (geolog_scalar_* encodings).
