Snapshot the camera's position, rotation, and up into the manager's saved
fields, plus a target. For orbit/ortho the target is the explicit orbit
target; for fly it is re-derived along the current view ray — reusing the
previous pivot's depth while the camera still faces it (within a ~60° cone)
and floored at minPivotDepth, otherwise a scene-scale point ahead. This
keeps a no-movement mode round-trip pivot-exact and scale-free.
